Honesty note: Code128 & QR = fully free for any use. EAN-13/UPC-A symbol banate hain (check digit sahit), but retail number series GS1 se leni padti hai — hum number issue nahi karte. Sab kuch browser me render hota hai; koi code server pe nahi jata.

What you'll get

Barcodes are the quiet infrastructure of Indian e-commerce: the Code128 on your courier packing slip, the EAN-13 printed on retail packaging, the QR code on a thank-you card that pulls a customer back to your shop. Paid generators charge per code or hide downloads behind a signup — this free barcode generator gives you unlimited codes, bulk generation and a print-ready A4 sheet, with everything rendered inside your browser. No signup, no watermark, no per-download fees, and your SKU list never leaves your device.

Pick the code type that matches the job. Code128 is the workhorse: it encodes letters and digits of almost any length, which makes it the standard on shipping labels for Delhivery, BlueDart, DTDC and every marketplace courier — paste your SKUs or tracking-style references and print. EAN-13 and UPC-A are retail product codes: 12 or 11 digits plus a check digit, built on a GS1-assigned prefix. We render the symbol correctly (check digit calculated for you), but the number series itself must be licensed from GS1 — any tool promising “free official EAN numbers” is selling you someone else's prefix. QR codes store URLs, UPI IDs or plain text and scan with any phone camera — perfect for repeat-order links, WhatsApp reorders and marketplace storefronts.

Bulk is where this tool pulls ahead. Switch to Bulk mode, paste one code per line — straight from Excel or your SKU CSV — and generate up to 200 codes in a single run. You get a preview grid with a PNG download for every code (drop them into any label editor or shipping software) plus one print-ready A4 PDF sheet with dashed cut guides, in three layouts: 3×8 (24 per page, default), 4×10 compact or 2×6 large. A 50-code batch builds in under two seconds because rendering is local — there is no server round-trip to wait for, and no queue on New Year sale days.

Printing matters as much as generating. Print the PDF sheet at 100% scale — turn OFF “fit to page” or “shrink to fit”, because scaling changes bar widths and some scanners will refuse the code. Keep the white quiet zone around the bars clean, and for thermal roll printers download the PNGs instead of the sheet: Code128 stays sharp at 20–30mm heights. The same discipline applies to retail codes — a scannable EAN-13 on packaging is what lets a B2B buyer or export partner scan once instead of typing twelve digits.

Sellers use this in a few specific flows: courier labels for Flipkart and Meesho dispatch, internal SKU and bin labels for warehouse picking, EAN-13 artwork for packaging printers, QR codes on thank-you cards and inserts for repeat orders, and QR-on-invoice for UPI payments. If you are building listings too, pair it with the Image Maker for white-background photos, the HSN Finder for GST-ready product codes, and the Shipping Optimizer before you commit to a courier slab — all free, all client-side, all on ListiLabel.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

?

What is the difference between Code128, EAN-13 and UPC-A?

Code128 encodes any text or number (letters + digits, up to 48 characters) and is the standard used on shipping and courier labels — it needs no licensed number, so you can generate it freely for in-house SKUs, bin labels and packing slips. EAN-13 is the 13-digit retail product barcode sold on marketplaces and retail shelves: 12 digits plus a check digit, built on a GS1-assigned prefix (you must buy/own the number series — we generate the symbol, not the licence). UPC-A is the 11-digit North-American equivalent. QR codes store URLs, UPI IDs or plain text and scan with any phone camera.

?

How do I print these barcodes on thermal labels or an A4 sheet?

Hit "Download A4 PDF sheet" and print the PDF at 100% scale (turn OFF "fit to page" / "shrink to fit" — scaling distorts bar widths). Each cell has a dashed cut guide so you can trim labels with scissors or a paper cutter. For thermal roll printers (80mm/58mm), download the individual PNGs instead and paste them into your label editor or shipping software — Code128 renders clean at small sizes. Keep the white quiet zone around the bars intact; scanners need it.

?

Can I generate barcodes in bulk — hundreds at once?

Yes. Switch to Bulk mode, paste one code per line (from Excel, CSV or your SKU list — up to 200 per run) and generate. You get a preview grid with a PNG download for every code plus a single print-ready A4 sheet (3×8 default, also 4×10 compact or 2×6 large). Everything runs in your browser — a 50-code batch builds in under two seconds and nothing is uploaded to any server.

?

Is this barcode generator really free? What is the catch?

Free and unlimited — no signup, no watermark, no daily cap. There is no catch: rendering happens entirely on your device using open-source barcode libraries, so there is no server cost for us to pass on. The only thing we cannot give you is a licensed EAN-13/UPC number — those must come from GS1. Code128 and QR generation are fully free for any commercial use.

?

Do marketplace listings (Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho) need a barcode?

Barcodes are not mandatory to list on Meesho or most Flipkart/Amazon seller categories for unbranded goods — but they are expected on retail packaging, B2B orders and export shipments, and a scannable Code128 on your packing slip speeds up courier scanning. Generate one here for your packaging, use QR codes on thank-you cards for repeat-order links, and keep your SKU list in one place.
